And it's easier to stomach snagging a $30-50 Transformer when I can bury it in a $100 grocery bill Thankfully Walmart's prices have only gone mildly crazy instead of full-blown crazy. And in every case it was because they were on sale or I had coupons because otherwise I would've either bought the wide release stuff elsewhere or just not bought the TRU exclusive ones. In the last like 3 years I've bought exactly 4 things from TRU: Red Cog, Buzzworthy Origins Bumblebee, Kingdom Rodimus, and the Kingdom Ark. Now it's just Jurassic Park from end to end). What used to be the TF shelf was split halfway with beyblades, wrestling figures, and Jurassic Park. So like half the real estate that they can possible devote to Transformers. Their selection is also mostly crap as they keep shrinking the shelf-space dedicated to TFs (in my local store it's gone from a full height shelving unit with custom branding on it to like 3 shelves on a small "island" shelving unit that stands between major aisles/shelves. Like here in BC it's 12% (7% federal, 5% provincial) so that $44 Cdn deluxe actually ends up costing a touch over $49 once you take the tax hit). There are federal and provincial sales taxes (or in some cases they are presented as a singular tax and I want to say that in at least one case they are also actually identified as VAT) but AFAIK they are never indicated in the sale price and are simply added at the register. Hey, at lest you still have TrU to complain about the high prices at (but dang, $44 Can for a deluxe? that's straight-up theft.) Isn't VAT also included in the CDN price? (where as we in the US have sales tax added on top in most states) I'll probably be clear-coating myself once I've let my Molotow metallic blue touch-ups cure a bit. Likewise whilst doing a bit of pin-&-screw camouflaging paint apps in black & white, I found some scratches on his metallic blue "V" stripes that I'm not 100% sure were or weren't there fresh out the box so I do advise those confident doing so might want to crack out their clear coating of choice before any heavy handling! (Plus it was already half off the top side after 1 transformation into each mode!) The black's removability was actually a boon on the wings' hinges as they've been painted for train mode camouflagery but the tolerances are such that a number of transformations may do the app in very easily so I've taken it off the hinges' upper areas for a cleaner shuttle wing as that's his primary alt. Just got my Velocitron Galaxy Shuttle today, and I have a possibly-urgent Caveat Emptor to other Velocitron Galaxy Shuttle buyers/soon-to-be owners, it's possible that if it isn't just QC on my copy the decals and black apps on him are leaning towards the T30 Brainstorm teal, and ER Sky Lynx's Magnificence tampos on the lack of durability front.
